Collection Development Policy
Selection Criteria The Library continues to work with coaches and colleagues to determine which resources should be acquired. The following general criteria will be employed when evaluating resources to be added to the collection:
Relevance: Support the training and research needs of sports science and sports medicine professionals, coaches, athletes, NSAs, academic institutions and physical education specialists in Hong Kong
Quality and Accuracy: Long term relevance of content and format; well-sourced data; reputation of the author, publisher, contributors, and editorial board
Currency: Collection emphasis is on up-to-date information. Exceptions may include material for research purposes or with significant historical value.
Electronic resources: Preference will be given to Library resources in electronic format while its user interface, technical requirements, licensing and price etc will be taken into consideration. Print materials will be acquired in the circumstances of unavailability of electronic version and cost ineffective.
